Children at Play

Last weekend was Brennen's birthday adventure vacation! If you asked him what we were doing he would have gladly told you we were going on his "birfday carmation" (aka birthday vacation). What I loved most about this is that the idea of a "vacation" is too abstract for him so to him "vacation" was a destination. Well our first destination was the Indianapolis Children's Museum, so this is now being referred to as the "Carmation Museum" in our house! Hahaha how fun, I wonder how long that name will stick?!?! The best part of a children's museum is that you get to play like a kid no matter what your age! Anthony is especially good at this. He forgets how old he is and gets as excited as any other child there LOL. So Saturday was spent playing, discovering, and enjoying the world as carefree children.Digging in the sand. Yes Anthony had to sit this activity out but do not think for an instant that he sat idly by, nope he was happy to direct Bren and make sure that he didn't miss out on any toy that looked like fun LOL. Fishing at the water table....enough said.
What's more fun than a tea party with giant teddy bears? Ooh how cute is a toddler size ice cream shop?
Round and round we go. (hmmm looks like I was having more fun then he was!) Oh the trains.....don't get me started on the trains! This spot right here is where we spent the majority of our time. Oh Brennen couldn't get enough of this train. Anthony, however, was too excited to stay in one spot and was having a hard time spending an hour watching the same train go around and around. He left for a few minutes and took a solo tour while we kept watching. Seriously we spent and enormous ammount of time here and still had to drag him away in tears. He REALLY LOVED that train!
Oh Anthony and his Star Wars exhibit. I have never seen Star Wars so this was definitely an exhibit I could have happily skipped.
The newest exhibit at the museum is about Egypt. I love education disguised as play! Here is Brennen showing me the pyramid (hidden behind the flash reflection) that he just learned about.
Whoo Whoo a Brennen size tractor!
This was his Roller Coaster! Another favorite spot that day!
Cheese! Who doesn't love a racecar?
Oh more trains, I think this was round two of this exhibit!
Hahaha my little Dino!

The dinosaur exhibit is soooo cool! My only issue was all the hands on activities and these view finders that every little hand/face in the entire place had been on. I turned into a germ-o-phobe that day Yuck! Thank goodness I carried alot of hand sanitizer and wipes with me!
Anthony and Brennen learning more about Dinosaurs. (Look at that background, so cool)
Puzzle time.
Bugg and I went fossil hunting.

Whew that was only a very small portion of the actual pictures that we took, HA. We really had such a fantastic time. There is so much to do that we felt like we only got to taste a little of what the museum had to offer. We are definitely heading back in a month or two to do it all again! Those of you who live close enough to get a yearly pass are lucky, lucky people!

Day 2 of our Birthday Adventure still to come, stay tuned.
