Well the story doesn't end there. It had to been the next day or two after we bought the CD that Anthony came home and said that Jason Aldean was playing an all ages show at countryfest in Fort Wayne two weeks from then. SERIOUSLY, are you kidding?!?! Sure enough, Anthony made a few phone calls and got us tickets to this already sold out concert!! Good grief, the things we do for our kids!
This was a concert that had 5 bands playing and Jason was the headliner who was scheduled at 8:30 pm. Yes, that is already past Brennen's bedtime but we found a way to work it out so that he wouldn't be tired. Then we spent the next two weeks hunting down a T-shirt with a big green tractor on it since the name of the song was "Big Green Tractor" and of course a cowboy hat.
The day of the concert rolled around and wouldn't ya know that it was 98 degrees at an outdoor concert that was completely sold out UHG. Well Brennen had his heart set on seeing "Big Green Tractor" so we decided to go after the first two bands were over in hopes of it being a little cooler by 5:30 and a little less time there. Well it was still miserably hot and once we did arrive we found out that everything was running an hour behind, UGH again. Well, we had come that far so we were going to make the best of it and have some fun. It turns out that Brennen is a huge fan of concerts!! He was having so much fun dancing and flirting and listening to the music. He was doing such a great job despite the heat. His patience in waiting for his song was astounding! But 9:00 started to roll around I started to get concered that he was fading. We asked if he wanted to go home and he said "no, I see Big Green Tractor" so we stayed praying that Jason would go on soon and that he would play that song right away. At 9:30 Jason went on and Bren was a puddle of toddler tired. Again in the midst of his tears and sleepy eyes Anthony asked if he wanted to go home and he said "no, I see Big Green Tractor" so we waited. Finally at 9:50 the big event happened, we heard the beginning of the song! Brennen perked up right away placed the biggest smile we have ever seen across his face and popped up to his daddy's shoulders so he could see his precious song being played. This child enjoyed every single note played with interest and excitment. Then the second it was over he layed his head down and said "I'm done". So we left PROMPTLY! He cried out of exhuastion the entire way home but the second he opened the front door he ran right up to Remy and told him that he got to see the Big Green Tractor song with enthusiasm. I looked and Tony and said, "yep that made it all worth it right there, that is a truly happy kid".
Oh and by the way he still LOVES the song but has found a second song he likes so we get to alternate HORRAY!
