Museum Hopping

Fort Wayne had an event today where many of the museums and attractions were open to the public free of charge. So we decided to take advatange of this opportunity and hit some of the places we had not ever been too (along with some we had). I have become such an advocate for finding things to do here in town so I have been looking forward to this event for a while. After living in IL where there truely was "nothing to do" I have become very apprieciative of all that Fort Wayne has to offer, even if most of the natives do not believe that there is! Here are some of our stops.....

The Fort Wayne Firefighters Museum. It was crowded and hot and Bren was a little bored but there were some interesting artifacts and great information about the history of our fire dept. This is definitely something we would like to do again when Bren is a little older!!
The Botanical Conservatory was beautiful as always. They always have a fun exhibit for Bren to play on. This particular one was a big hit since he could climb on the boat and turn the big wheel!! The Hisory Center. This is one place that I have been wanting to go for quite some time. I know I visited the museum as a child but I couldnt remember a bit of it for the life of me. It was a nice little history lesson. And they have opened the old jail in the basement for visitors to tour. This pic was taken while I was on the inside of the jail and they were in the hall. (Bren was very upset when I went inside the cell!!!)

The Art Museum. This was a total bust!! They had nothing on display! Only about 3 paintings and a handful of old furniture. We will have to go back sometime when they have a real exhibit going on.

Then to top it all off we went to Frieman's Square for a refreshment and listened to the band for a while. Bren was desperate to get out of the stroller and run around and after all that fun I was parched!!
All in all it was a great day!!
